Lockdown major cities in Ghana, Northern Regional Youth Network to Government.

The Northern regional youth network has called on government to as a matter of urgency lockdown the major cities of Ghana to effectively fight the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.

In a press statement copied to www.diamondfmonline.com the youth group argued that considering various observations and analysis by experts is very possible that so many people are infected and are going around transmitting the deadly disease to innocent people”.

The statement added that, what makes the issue worse is the fact that, there is no random testing going on for us as a country to determine the exact number of people infected for the right measure to be taken”.

Below is the full press statement signed by the Regional convener Inusah Mohammed.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCKDOWN ALL MAJOR CITIES NOW

The Northern Regional Youth Network is a youth-led organization with membership of more than 16,000+ young people operating in the Northern Region and a member of the National Network of Youth Groups in Ghana.

We first of all will like to applaud government’s effort towards the fight againts the deadly disease (COVID-19 PANDEMIC) so far. However, the sharp rising in the confirmed cases is a cause for worry for many Ghanaians. Considering various observations and analysis by experts is very possible that so many people are infected and are going around transmitting the deadly disease to innocent people. What makes the issue worse is the fact that, there is no random testing going on for us as a country to determine the exact number of people infected for the right measure to be taken.

Against this backdrop, we are calling on the governmnent of Ghana led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to listen to the many calls by experts to as a matter of urgency, immediately lockdown the major cities of Ghana to effectively fight the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. We should not wait for things to go out of hands before we take a decision to lockdown which could be too late and risky.

We are finally calling on all Ghanaians and everyone on the soil of Ghana to take responsibility of his or her life. We should cooperate with the authorities in this difficult moment. We should respect the directives of the president and should observe the personal hygiene protocols. Lets stay at home.
