The family of Lamashegu missing girl has handed over the suspected kidnapper to police in the northern region.
According to the family, the suspect was picked at her private resident in Masaaka – a farming community along the Tamale Salaga road of the North East District in the Savanna Region. The little girl, Fadila went missing early last month, and has since not return.
The senior brother of the missing girl Yakubu Abdul Razak, told Diamond News that, the family took the investigation upon themselves because the police failed to act quickly after receiving the report from the family members.
He said the family had a tipped off about the where about of the suspected kidnapper, and so they quickly mobilize and move to the community.
According to him the suspect came to their house claiming to be looking for her mom who has abandon her since she was a child.He said they send her to their grandmother whom the suspect claimed to be known as Mma Salima.
He narrated their grandmother who couldn’t recognize her however, ask her to return to Daboya where she claimed her biological parents reside. “We were on that process, and so we brought her back to the house and it was time to observed Asr prayers. That was the time the missing girl (Fadila) return from school. We went in for prayers and she quickly left with the small girl. We reported the matter to the police over twenty days now yet still, no results until yesterday 12 in the middle of the night we were able to get her at Masaaka”.
He said the family members gather information from the community members of Masaaka, which indicated that the small girl is no more because the accused person informed them about her passing on in Tamale, and she has since been buried.
Yakubu Razak stated that, the suspect has confirmed the kidnapping of the girl but has since returned her to Tamale when she was ill. “We pushed her and she confirmed the return of the girl to Tamale and dropped her at the main Bus Stop”.
The suspect has since been referred to the head office of Northern Regional Police Command for further investigations.
