KWESI APPIAH EXCLUDES AYEW BROTHERS IN LATEST CALL UP

Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has excluded the Ayew brothers again in his latest call up of players for the upcoming Nations Cup Qualifier against Sierra Leone.

Even though the call ups includes the likes of captain Asamoah Gyan, Mubarak Wakaso, Jonathan Mensah and Lumor Agbenyanu who also missed the last game, the pair of Jordan Ayew and Dede Ayew are still left out.

The brothers have failed to make it to the coach’s team ever since they both missed a World Cup qualifying game against Congo Brazzaville last year. The two brothers all reported ill-health as their reason for failing to make it to the game which was seen as a mere formality as it was unlikely to help Ghana qualify for the World Cup. The teams had settled for a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and the return leg was just a dead rubber. Their action was seen as a lack of commitment by the coach to the national course.

The coach has therefore seemingly ‘shut’ the door on them for a long time now. It remains unclear when they would be called back to the team.

At the beginning of this season, they both left Swansea City after they failed to help them stay up the English Premier League. While Jordan left Swansea for Crystal Palace, Andre Dede Ayew left for Turkish side Fernabache.

In a press release on Sunday 30th September, 2018 and signed by Mr. Alex Asante, Deputy General Secretary of the GFA, the coach said the team will begin camping on October 8th, 2018 ahead of the match on 11th October, 2018 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Here is the full squad:

Goalkeepers: Richard Ofori (Maritzburg United, South Africa), Lawrence Ati Zigi (Sochaux, France), Felix Annan (Asante Kotoko)

Let them continue with their sabotage. The very reason Ghana is always struggling to put its acts together to get laurels for the nation.
