KUMBUNGU MP, RAS MUBARAK DEFENDS HIS BICYCLE RIDE TO PARLIAMENT INSTEAD OF HIS V8 SAYING IT ISN’T A POPULIST MOVE

The Member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency, Ras Mubarak has justified his decision to ride a bicycle to parliament, to protest against the hardship in the country.

Ras Mubarak in an interview on Diamond FM, admitted, it is not the first time a  politician will ride a bicycle to parliament across the globe; Boris Johnson of the UK, the president of France Emanuel  Macron, and even the Queen of the Netherlands have all rode on a bicycle to make a statement.

He however said it is the first time a politician in Ghana, is riding a bicycle for 17 kilometer from his house to parliament and that is major statement.

The National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, is on a campaign to highlight the economic realities in the country, decided to ride bicycle to parliament on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 to prove his claim. However some section of the Ghanaian populace including his colleague Member of Parliament for Yunyoo, Joseph Naabu have criticized the move and described Ras Mubarak as seeking cheap popularity in the country.

But explaining his reasons, the Kumbungu legislator called on Government to apologize to Ghanaians for leading the country into the current economic difficulties.
