Islamic clerics condemn growing moral decay in Tamale

An Islam cleric in the Tamale metropolis, Shiekh Al-habib Adabiya, has expressed worries over the increasing levels of indiscipline and immorality among the youth although there has been a proliferation of Islamic preaching’s in the area.  

He said the phenomenon of sharing pornographic videos and disrespect for authority among today’s generation was unacceptable.

Shiekh Al –habib who made this observation at his Mosque during Friday’s congregation prayers, said Muslim youth instead of exploring their creative and innovative potentials in order to bring positive change to their society are rather engaging themselves in negatives activities.

The renowned Islamic cleric stated that, God has blessed white people with knowledge to manufacture smart phones and other communication tools in order to facilitate communication across the globe, however Muslim youth instead of taking opportunity of this new technology for self-development, rather resort to using it in negative ways.

Sheik Al- habib also, reminded Muslim urmah that, the Islamic Religion forbids Muslims from watching pornography, let alone spreading pornographic videos in the public domain. He said Allah would never forgive those who spread obscene pictures or videos.

He indicated that the negatives conduct of Muslim youth in resent time is the cause of hardship and other sufferings in region.

The Tamale metropolis though known to be predominantly Muslim community, in recent times has become the home of leaked sex tapes and pornographic images amidst other scandals.

Meanwhile Malam Al- Habib torching on the recent leak sex tape, however described the incident as unfortunate and called on the culprit to seek Allah forgiveness. He also charged his fellow IMAMS in the Tamale metropolis, not to hide from the truth, but preach the word of Allah to their followers.

He also called on the city authorities to join hands with other stakeholders in the metropolis to eradicate the canker.

 “You must evolve by looking at the positive side of technology [in order] to impact on society and desist from painting Islamic religion in a negative way,” he added.
