Highway Patrol Team kills armed robber in a shoot out

A Police patrol team around Banda in the Savanna region has shot dead, a 25 year old armed robber on the Bole-Bamboi highway.

The incident happened on Thursday, March 14 after some aarmed robbers numbering more than six engaged the Police patrol team in a shot out after robbing a Sangyoung mini bus with registration number AS 3505-19 that was travelling from Kumasi to Sawla at about 8: 00pm.

The Police found on the deceased, a locally manufactured short gun with BB cartridge, a duster used as a face mask, three mobile phones, a wrist watch and 24 Ghana cedis.

The Northern regional Police public relations officer DSP Yussif Tango told news men in Tamale that, the incident happened between the Nouyiri and Bonbontey section of the Bole-Bamboi high way.

He narrated that, the armed men unsuccessfully robbed another Sprinter Benz bus with registration number UW 130-14 travelling from Techiman to Wa.

DSP Yussif Tango however indicated the other gunmen who sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds managed to escape arrest.

The regional Police command is appealing for information from the public to enable them arrest the remaining armed robbers. The police assured that patrols have been intensified on the highways.
