help bring finality to the long standing chieftaincy feud in Dagbon- President urges eminent chiefs

President Nana Akuffo Addo has appealed to the Yagbonwura and the other eminent Chiefs mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute to do all they can to help bring finality to the long standing chieftaincy feud.

According to the President, it was time to bring the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute to an end and pave way for lasting peace and accelerated development of the area.

President Nana Akuffo Addo stated that, government was ready to assist the revered chiefs to bring to resolve the crisis in order to restore Dagbon to its former glory as one of the respected kingdoms.

The President made the appeal during his recent visit to Yagbonwura Tuntumba Borsesa at his palace at Damongo as part of his three days working visit to the Northern region.

The three eminent Chiefs tasked to mediate the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute is headed by the Asantehene; Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. It also includes the Nayiri Na Bohagu Mahami Sheriga, and the Yagbonwura Tuntumba Borsesa Sulemana Jakpa I.

Meanwhile, President also said plans were far advanced for the creation of the Salaga North district from the existing East Gonja district in order to bring governance closer to the people.

He said an executive instrument is awaiting his signature to make that a reality.
