Heads of MMDAs advised to reduce financial infractions that are constantly captured by the Auditor General

The Head of Local Government Service, Nana Ato Arthur has advised heads and staff of the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies to work towards eliminating the financial infractions captured by the Auditor General’s report over the years.

Nana Ato Arthur while speaking at the inauguration of a two-story ultra-modern office complex of the Ga South Municipal Assembly at Galilea in Accra said every year, there are infractions but wondered if the officials aren’t learning from the reports that come from the Auditor General’s Department or just that officials were not being sanctioned for the wrong that they are doing?”

The 2018 AG report revealed a lot of infractions from many Assemblies; he stated adding that the local government service is not doing well with Infractions all over, mostly from the Assemblies in Ghana.

He said the Local Government Service was considering bringing the Chief Executives, Coordinating Directors, Internal Auditors and Financial Officers to look at the causes of the infractions and how to resolve them.

Nana Ato Arthur also urged staff of the service who wish to contest for various political positions to resign, warning that staff who do not resign before contesting political positions will be dismissed.

“As I am speaking now we are meeting some staff of the service have openly declared their intentions to contest for political positions, one on the ticket of NPP and the other for NDC, but if they don’t resign next week we will fire them,” Ato Arthur said.
