Gushegu Assembly holds meeting on COVID-19.

Disease Control Officer at the Gushegu Municipal Hospital, Sulemana Ahamed Nassam, has applauded the Assembly for putting measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

He said the Assembly was yet to record a case of the disease, hence the need for all to tighten their grip on the control measures.

Mr Nassam gave the commendation at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Gushegu Municipal Assembly to discuss and explain the COVID-19 restrictions announced by the President and what the Municipality could do to curb the spread of the disease in the area in case it was detected.

The meeting, held at Gushegu, was attended by all Imams and heads of department in the area.

The meeting agreed to form sub-committees in all the mosques to ensure effective management of the protocols including, the use of face masks during prayers, avoiding handshakes after each prayer, observing social distancing in the mosques, washing of hands and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers before entering the mosques to pray.

Chief Imam of Gushegu, Sheikh Abukari Imoro, called on all Muslims and Imams in the area “to comply with government’s directives so that together we can fight COVID- 19”.

Gushegu Municipal Chief Executive, Issah Musah, on his part, urged individuals and organisations in the area to support the government in its efforts to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control in the country.
