Government urged to complete 200 CHPS compounds under construction before initiating newer projects

Programs Officer for Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights, Isaac Nyanpong has urged government to prioritize the completion of over 200 CHIPS compounds left at various stages of construction that are dotted across the country.

According to him, government should abort the idea of starting new CHIPS compounds and rather channel fund into the completion of the over 200 uncompleted CHIPS compounds to ensure access to healthcare by rural dwellers.

Speaking to Diamond News when the alliance for universal health coverage presented a communiqué to the government, Isaac Nyanpong also admonished government to fashion out ways of addressing the many challenges confronting the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He said Ghana’s approach to achieving universal healthcare using the CHIPS compounds and the National Health Insurance Scheme is unattainable if government does not address major concerns facing the health sector.

Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights Programs Officer also admonished government to pay attention to the health needs of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in Ghana.

The Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights is part of 17 other non-governmental organizations across Ghana campaigning for the attainment of universal health care in Ghana.
