Government flagship programs are positively impacting lives of the people of the in the Zabzugu district, says Ahmed Bukari Iddrisu, the DCE for the area.
According to him, enrolment at the Zabzugu Senior high school increased to over 2,450 students in 2019 due to the implementation of the free senior high school policy by the government.
Ahmed Bukari Iddrisu said made the revelation at the Meet the Press series in Zabzugu, where he stated that, government’s support to the school from 2016/17 academic year to 2019/20 academic year stood at over Ghc 1,062, 050.
He indicated that, 1,697 farmers in the district subscribed to the government’s planting for food and jobs programme where they benefited from subsidized fertilizer, improved seeds and other farm inputs in the 2019 crop season.
The Zabzugu DCE also revealed that, over Ghc 699,910 was spent on the procurement of 17,050 bags of fertilizer and other farm inputs for distribution to farmers in the district.
To help boost dry season farming and animal rearing in the district, two multipurpose dams out of 10 awarded on contracts has been completed in the district.
Various projects including boreholes, mechanized water systems, institutional latrines and other amenities are also in various stages of completion under the government One constituency and the One Million dollar per constituency.
