In line with the ruling new patriotic party NPP government’s One District-one Factory policy, Ten acre of land has been cleared to paved way for the construction of PT and T Ghana Limited cassava processing factory at Diare in the Savelugu Naton Municipality in the northern region.
Briefing the media at the project site, the Municipal chief executive for Savelugu Nanton, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu stated that the factory when completed will prevent the youth from the area from going to the south in search of greener pasture.
She revealed that Savelugu Nanton Municipal area alone was targeting four factories; including processing of sugarcane, tomatoes, and a factory for poultry feed production.
The MCE said the MESEC was working closely with the traditional authorities in the area to ensure that stray animals will not destroy their efforts.
“This is a cassava factory that is going to take care of our youth and give employment to the youth, I have moved my office from the assembly to see what the promoters have been able to do they have cleared the land we have been here we have see everything for ourselves, this going to stop our youth from going to places like Accra and Kumasi seeking for jobs, when the jobs is created they stay backed to work in”, Hajia Ayishetu indicated.
“it is for the whole community and not just for those in town or in this area. I know that the assembly is going to collaborate with promoters to see to it that it take off as Soon as possible. president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, said he is in the hurry, we also in hurry and that is what we are seeing today. everybody will agree with me that we are really in hurry and we have started something that is going to benefit the youth from the area and increase farmers daily income”, she added.
Chief executive officer of PT and T cassava processing limited, Prince M. Toufiq Tikumah, indicated that the cost of the project is estimated at 9 million Ghana cedis. He sod would soon be cut for work to begin.
“Cassava actually, is a crop that can feed a nation if much attention paid to it, so PT and T upon doing our research, meeting our consultant realized that, it will do best in this area. We believe we can create more job for the youth and the farmers of the community ”, said the CEO.
“We are taken several steps, including meeting the farmers of the various communities of the municipality to see how best we can collaborate to ensure it benefits everybody in the municipality, to reduce or minimize poverty in the area”, prince Toufiq further stated.
The regent of Diare Traditional area Naa Abdulai Abukari in his speech commended management of the Savelugu/Nanton Municipal assembly for siting the factory in his jurisdiction saying this would go a long way to addressing unemployment in the area.
