GHANA’S “SAKORA” LEAGUE TO GET SPONSOR SOON

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given the strongest indication yet about the possibility of securing sponsorship for the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The GPL enters match day three on Wednesday when all 16teams enter the field yet again as they continue the chase for glory in what many now term as the ‘sakora’ league.

However, at a media briefing on Monday, the GFA’s communications director, Ibrahim Saani Daara said the current social media trends that the league is attracting is means its inching closer to a sponsor.

The Ghana Premier League has been without a headline sponsor since the defunct First Capital Plus Bank pulled out of a 5-year deal with the Ghana Football Association three years ago.

The president of the FA has come under severe backlash for his inability to secure a sponsorship deal for the league.

Some of the clubs have made known the financial burden they carry as a result of the lack of a headline sponsor for the league. The GPL match day three fixtures are in mid-week.
