Ghana’s development anchored on the quality of attention given to its youth says Gyan Ansah

The Northern Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, Eric Gyan Ansah has said Ghana’s development is anchored on the quality of attention that is given to youthful population.

He says this, therefore requires massive investments in the area of youth development.

According to him challenges of the youthful population in the country are interrelated with challenges of all communities across Ghana; hence addressing the needs of the youth simultaneously would ensure the overall developmental needs of society.

Speaking at the maiden Northern regional youth network congress and launch of the network in Tamale, Mr. Gyan Ansah said the youth have the energy and enthusiasm and must therefore push forward the process of change in the societies they lived in.

He bemoaned the neglect of the youth in decision making process at the national level, even though many of the youth have shown idealism and exemplary devotion to national assignments and had excelled in that regard.

Acting regional convener of the youth network, Mohammed Jackson in an address called on the Northern regional peace council to include the network in their activities since they have representation in most communities in 13 districts across the region.

He said members of the network will work as community watchdogs in their various communities to ensure accountability from duty bearers.

They will also be peace ambassadors to help maintain peace in the region.

Other speakers at the event urged youth groups within the region to focus on their core objectives and not fall for political or religious influences which can collapse the movement.

The Northern regional youth network is made up of youth groups from 13 districts within the Northern region and has membership strength of over five thousand.

The movement works to ensure youth empowerment alongside the reduction of inequalities and injustice.
