GFA APPOINTMENTS: NORTHERN RFA CHAIR, SIX OTHERS APPOINTED TO NATIONAL POSITIONS

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named Northern Regional Football Association (RFA) chairman, Alhaji Abu-Hassan Mahamadu Rhyzo as a member of the management committee of the male national Under 20 team, the Black Satellites of Ghana.

Alhaj Rhyzo’s appointment was announced on Wednesday alongside Tamale based football administrator, Mohammed Asamoah who will serve as the welfare officer of the Black Satellites. Mohammed Asamoah is currently serving as Operations Manager of Real Tamale United (RTU). He is also credited with leading former Glory Stars to the Division One League even though he subsequently sold the club to investors in the Bono Region.

A former coach of FC Tanga in the Upper East Region, Salifu Fatawu has been named as assistant 2 to Coach Abdul Karim Zito’s technical team at the Black Satellites. 

Also getting appointment is former national star, Hamza Mohammed who has been appointed to the Technical Team of the male national Under 17 team, the Black Starlets of Ghana as Assistant coach. Hamza joins a technical team lead by Coach Ben Fokuo while Yusif Andani picks the ​Team Doctor position in the Starlets. 

Hamza Mohammed is currently the acting coach of Tamale based Division One League side, Tamale City FC. He served as assistant coach under Sellas Tetteh when the team topped the Zone One standings prior to the Anas Aremeyaw Anas expose on football corruption in Ghana in 2018.

On Tuesday, the GFA appointed Perlpia Ladies Baba Nuhu Mallam as head coach of the National U-17 female team, the Black Maidens. Baba Nuhu Mallam steps in as head of the Black Maidens technical team after serving as assistant under Coach Evans Adottey during the FIFA female Under 17 World Cup in Uruguay last year. Baba Nuhu Mallam comes in with a vast experience in the women’s game as he has served as technical director of Pearlpia Ladies for many years.

Other members of the maiden’s technical team include Memunatu Sulemana – Goalkeepers trainer, Maame Antwi-Gyamfi – Team Doctor, Elizabeth Taylor – Physiotherapist, Naomi Abdulai – Equipment manager and Theresa Slippy Mensah as the Welfare manager.

The GFA named Nana Oduro Sarfo as Chairman of the Black Maidens management committee with Dr. Benjamin Taylor as the vice chairman. Gifty Oware-Aboagye, Nana Benyin Eyison, Simon Ehormah and Asamoah Boakye  have all been named as members of the Committee.

Former RTU goalie Najawu Issah​ got appointed as the Goalkeepers Coach of the senior male national team, the Black Stars of Ghana. Najawu will serve in the technical team headed by Charles Kobblan Ackonnor.

Chief Excutive Officer (CEO) of Tamale City FC, Jones Abu Alhassan has been appointed as a member of the Black Stars Management Committee.
