Furniture and Upholstery makers in Tamale unhappy with direct competition from cushion manufacturers

The furniture and upholstery makers association in the Northern Region, want government, to intervene by regulating prices of cushion products in the country.

According to the association, there has been an astronomical rise in prices of cushions which constitute a critical component of what they do, from the two leading producers of foam products in the last few months.

This they say is a subtle attempt to push them out of business, since these two giants have ventured into the manufacturing and sale of similar finished products like furniture and beds.

Secretary for the furniture and upholstery makers association, Abdallah Samari, shared their frustrations with our news team.

According to the group, the monopoly enjoyed by these two companies over the years, must be broken to pave way for other producers to come on board, to sanitize the system and help keep them in business.

Meanwhile, we have been trying to get in touch with the two leading producers of the cushion products whom they accuse of deliberately ignoring invitations for the parties to dialogue on the way forward.
