Five Regional Ministers of the North to partner with NDA to rebrand the five Regions

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has disclosed that, the five Regional Ministers of the Regions of the North have resolved to work in partnership with the Northern Development Authority to reposition the Northern part of the country.

According to him,  the area for the past decades has suffered negatively, and therefore it is important to collaborate with institutions like Northern Development Authority (NDA), whose objectives is accelerating the economy and social development to rebrand the five regions of the North.

The Minister made this known at the media launch of the upcoming Northern Investment Summit, which is scheduled to run from the 10th to the 12th of January 2020 here in Tamale.

The maiden Northern Investment Summit, is been organized by the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and the Ministry of Special Development Initiative, in Partnership with the Centre for Policy Development (CPD), Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB) and the National Food Buffer Stock.

The theme of this year summit: “Transformation through Investment and Culture”, seeks to give platform to both local and foreign investors to pitch to them various opportunities in agriculture, tourism, industrialization, technology, digital satellite, mining, energy and infrastructure in the northern development zone that they can invest in.

The minister in his keynote address however applauded the Northern Development Authority and their partners and indicated that, the initiative will go a long way to attract investors into the northern part of Ghana to invest, thereby, reducing poverty in the North.

He assured that, the government is ready to work together with the Northern Development Authority on the initiative to reduce absolute poverty.

In her welcoming address, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of (NDA) Hajia Lariba Abudu, stated that the three-day summit seeks to bring over 50 investors to the Northern Regional capital.

She added the summit will also include boardroom sessions on thematic areas and investment opportunities in the Northern Development Zone, Presidential Dinner, a grand cultural durbar, exhibition and grand concert.

According to her, the Northern part of Ghana is lacking behind in terms of development hence, the summit is expected to inform, convince, encourage and eventually boost investor confidence directly, with prospects of transforming the economic paradigm of Northern Ghana.

Hajia Abudu stated that, the objective of the summit is to afford an opportunity to explain into details the multiple incentives that makes Ghana a better destination for investors.

It also seeks to boost investments in the SME and private sector, accelerate economic and social development in the North, formulate and implement initiatives towards achieving gender equality and empowerment of vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, both N’yab  Gukpegu Naa Abdulai Alhassan and N’yab Lamashegu Naa Alhaji Ziblim in the Tamale Metropolis, pledges to support the initiative to ensure that there is peaceful investment geared towards development in the region.
