An agricultural conservationist, Sintaro Mahama has urged hunters and other revelers who go on hunting expedition, to adopt innovative ways of getting their catch to meet the growing demand for locally spiced rats.
According to conservationist, the approach should shift from cruel ways of hunting such as bush burning, to conservation of the ecology and the animal species to prevent the rats and other animals from getting extinct through the hunting activities.
Speaking to Diamond Sintaro Mahama, who is the CEO of Tibzaa Integrated farms, the latest to be hit by a wave of bush fires that has hit the region, he said conservation of the ecology was the surest way to increasing the number of rats, in order to meet the ever-growing demand.
Narrating his ordeal to Diamond News, Sintaro Mahama said, close to 30 acres of vegetative land had been destroyed by the bush fires. He said the only fodder farm, which served ruminants Wamale, Dufa, Parishe and other surrounding communities had been completely consumed.
Sintaro Mahama, said the a plant which was to be used for extraction of Nim Oil, has been shutdown as the Nim plantation was cleared by the fires, among other economic tress such as Tamarind.
He called for strict enforcement of law on the conservation of the environment.
