Dagbon: Abudu Royals Climax funeral of late Yaa -Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV

The Abudu Royal family on Thursday December 27, 2018 Climaxed the final funeral rites of late Yaa- Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV at the old Gbewaa palace in Yendi.

The entire event came to an end after the Logiri Bob’bu of the Yilbila ( circumvolution of the old Gbewaa palace) by the regent, the Bolinlana Abdulai Mahamadu and other eminent chiefs of Dagbon amidst drumming and dancing and firing of musketry.

The over 40,000 people who graced the historic royal funeral, traveled from different places across Dagbon and beyond to the town of Yendi to witness the climax of the funeral of the late King Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

Early Thursday, close to 400 chiefs who owe allegiance to the Yendi skins as customs and tradition demands paid homage to the Bolinlana who is first son and regent of Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

There was a display of almost all of Dagbon cultural dances in front of the Old Gbewaa palace amidst firing of musketry.

The Vice President of the republic of Ghana H.E Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia led a team of Government officials including the defends Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Northern Regional Minister Hon Salifu Saeed, Deputy Energy Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, NPA CEO Mr. Hassan Tampuli, Deputy Foreign Minister and MP for Yendi Hon Habib Tijani,  Hon Boniface Abubakari Sadique, Minister of Business and Development Mr. Mohammed Awal, Deputy CEO of Freezone Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, Deputy MASLOC CEO Habibata Saani, Tamale Mayor Iddrisu Musah Superior, some members of parliament, MMDCEs and a host of others to witness the climax of the funeral of the the late King of Dagbon.

There was also a delegation from the Ashanti Kingdom to the Gbewaa palace and the national peace council amongst other high profile dignitaries were all present at the historic event.

There will be a recitation of the Holy Quran on Friday December 28, 2018 by Muslim clerics (Sara Taribu) and praying for the soul of the late Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV to signify the end of the the historic funeral rites.

The Abudu Royal family are expected to vacate and hand over the keys of the temporal palace to REGSEC for onward delivery to the Andani Royal family who have just a week to also begin immediately the funeral rites of late Yaa- Naa Yakubu Andani II without any delay.

The Andani Royal Family will begin the final funeral rites of late Yaa- Naa Yakubu Andani II on January 4, 2019 and are expected to conclude on January 18, 2019 before a new Yaa- Naa will be installed by the king makers.
