The Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed Mutala, has rubbished claims that he has been suspended.
According to him, he is still at post contrary to an earlier statement issued by the constituency secretary, Gazari Muniru indicating that the Constituency Chairman Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed Mutala and other polling stations Executives are on suspension.
The statement captured alleged gross misconduct of such individuals during the 2020 general elections.
The suspension letter read in part; “the Constituency Executive Committee of the NDC in the Daboya Mankarigu Constituency has suspended with immediate effect some party executives following their anti-party conduct during the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections which are against Article 40 of the party’s constitution.
“The decision was taken pursuant to Article 40 of the party’s constitution at a meeting held on January 2nd, 2021, following reports and a petition from some members of the party.” The said individuals have therefore been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the party in accordance with the constitution of the party.
However, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed Mutala, in an interview with Diamond FM said the NDC in Daboya/Mankarigu never constituted any Disciplinary Committee in the constituency therefore nobody had the mandate to summon him before any illegal committee. He insists that he is still the Daboya/Mankarigu Chairman for the NDC.
According tom him, he never received any suspension letter from anybody in the constituency, and also the constituency secretary had no authority to suspend him. “My constituency secretary cannot suspend me, he can only refer me to the Regional Executives for onward action, but not for him to issue such a letter saying he has suspended me, he has no such authority to dismiss me,” he stated.
Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed Mutala, told Diamond FM, the suspension letter was borne out of mischief and therefore must be disregarded. “The secretary is only being mischievous. He knows he can’t suspend me. I am still the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency Chairman, because I haven’t received any suspension letter from the regional executives,”
