CONFLICT AND PEACE ANALYST URGES GOVERNMENT TO COMPLEMENT THE PEACE BUILDING EFFORTS IN DAGBON WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SOCIAL INTERVENTION PROGRAMMES

Executive Director of the Jatikay center for human security and peace building, Adib Saani has urged government to complement the peace building efforts in Dagbon with the implementation of social interventions programmes that are aimed at improving livelihoods in the Northern region.

According to him, peace in Dagbon can be harnessed by creating employment and other income generating opportunities especially for the youth.

Speaking to Diamond news in an interview, Adib Saani urged government to fast track the provision of potable water, improved access to quality health care and also mechanized farming techniques.

The security analyst also urged the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and Civil Society Organizations to increase their engagement with relevant stakeholders such as the youth, women and disability groups on the need to become peace ambassadors.

Adib Saani also praised government and the committee of eminent chiefs for their dedications and announcement relating to the roadmap which will bring lasting peace to Dagbon.
