The deputy minister of youth and sports Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide and Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah have been suspended with immediate effect by the president Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.
In a release signed by Director of Communications at the presidency Eugene Arhin and dated 12th April, 2018, the president stated that the decision has been taken following investigations conducted into circumstances that led to the arrest of some sixty (60) Ghanaians, who had allegedly attempted to enter Australia by false pretence, in the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games.
Other members recalled from the games in Australia on this same issue according to the statement are Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, president of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, board chairman of the national sports authority and the Chef-de-maison for the Commonwealth Games Mr. Mohammed Sahnoon to assist in investigations.
It remains to be seen how many heads will roll going forward.
