The Chekosi youth for peace (a concerned youth group) in the Chereponi has countered claims by the Konkomba Youth Association’s (KOYA) that the alledeged acts of brutality on their members at the Disputed Nadoni and Kunjul area was state sponsored.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the CYA rebuffed accusations by the Konkomba youth Association that, DCE for area and a chekosi Razak, ordered the police in the area to launch attacks on the Konkombas without any provocation
This comes on the heels of a recent press conference by leadership of the Konkomba youth association, who accused the district chief executive of failing to act neutral in the ongoing impasse in the area and for sanctioning brutalities on their people.
Secretary of the CYA, who addressed the news conference, Sulemana Frinjei, advised KOYA to commit towards the peace and reconciliation process in the area, and avoid seeking negative publicity from the media space, with needles accusations.
The group also appealed to the interior and defense ministries, to release the 18 suspects from the Chekosi side who were picked, just as the 19 from the Konkomba sides had been released.
