BLACK MAIDENS QUALIFY FOR FIFA UNDER 17 WORLD CUP IN STYLE

It was a weekend of double glory for women football in Ghana as both the national Under 17 team, also known as the Black Maidens and their senior counterparts, the Black Queens all won important games.

The Black Maidens completed a 19-0 aggregate win over Djibouti to seal qualification to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay later this year.

Coach Augustine Evans Adotey’s side thrashed the Djiboutians 10-0 in the return leg tie played at the Cape Coast Stadium after their emphatic 9-0 win in the first leg a fortnight ago.

Abdulai Mukarama scored four goals in Sunday’s game with Fuseina Mumuni, Nina Norshie, Victoria Teye, Barikisu Abdul Rahaman and Azuma Bugre all getting on the scoresheet.

Ghana now joins South Africa to the upcoming World Cup with Nigeria to face Cameroon for the final CAF ticket.

This is Ghana’s sixth successive qualification to the junior female World Cup.

The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled for 13th November to 1st December 2018.
