BELEAGUERED REGIONAL SECRETARY OF NDC ACCUSES PARTY THUG WHO ATTACKED HIM OF MAKING AWAY WITH HIS CASH AND MOBILE PHONES

The Northern Regional secretary of the National Democratic Congress NDC, Salisu Be- Awuribe who was attacked by some of his party’s youth is alleging that the group made away with his 20,000 Ghana Cedis and personal phones.

The Aljazeera vigilante group linked to the opposition NDC in the Northern Region, on Saturday, November 3, attacked and assaulted the regional secretary and some executives of the party and violently disrupted their meeting.

The group went on the rampage because its members felt that the Regional Secretary, Salisu Be-Awuribe, convened the meeting without the consent of the Regional party Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila.

Speaking on Diamond FM, Salisu Be- Awuribe said the group that attacked him over the weekend, wielded guns and cutlasses and in the melee, they also took away his money and other personal effects.

Since taking over as new regional executives less than two months ago; there has been simmering tensions and suspicions between the Regional NDC chairman and his Secretary and the past weekend’s meeting which attracted regional functional executives, Members of Parliament (MPs) of the NDC in the Northern Region and Constituency representatives with the regional chairman’s involvement had angered his supporters.

The Regional Chairman, Alhaji Mobilla who is not happy about the posture of his secretary also issued a counter-directive that he had not “directed the Regional Secretary or received any request from members of the Regional Executive Committee (REC) for any meeting whatsoever.

Alhaji Mobilla therefore, warned members of the party against attending the said meeting, which he described as “illegal”, as it will amount to “gross insubordination towards his authority as elected Regional Chairman of NDC.
