Be responsible on the road, Akuffo Addo to motorists.

President Nana Akuffo Addo has charged motorists to be responsible on the roads in order to minimize the needless road crashes and associated deaths and pain.

He said although there are cries from the citizenry for better roads and the government makes the necessary efforts to meeting such needs, it is necessary for motorists to be responsible by avoiding over-speeding and the indiscipline on the roads which are a reproach to all.

Commissioning the first phase of the Tema Motorway interchange project, funded by a Japanese government grant of about UDS 57 million, President Akuffo Addo said better roads should become a catalyst for national development and not instruments for death and pain.

The President equally tasked state agencies and the police to ensure sanity on the roads ensure at all times.

The phase one of the Tema motorway expansion project constructed within 28 months is to ease traffic along that very important corridor linking the national capital, Accra to the harbor-city, Akosombo and the Aflao-Lagos corridor.

The motorway project has generated a lot of controversies between the NPP and NDC ahead of the 2020 elections, regarding which of the governments actually deserve the credit for the project.

President Akuffo Addo, however lashed out at the Mahama government while it was in office for touting road projects that only existed in their greenbook.

He added that his government is delivering on promises to fix roads and other infrastructures.
