Be Advocates in Ending Youth Vigilantism across Ghana-RUMNET

A media expert, Rev Perez Abdallah Kassim has enjoined journalist to use advocacy to help end the rising menace of political vigilantism in the country.

According to the Media expert, this has become crucial because, as the mouth piece of society, journalist had an indispensable role towards educating the youth who have allowed themselves be used by self seeking politicians.

Pro-NPP Vigilante groups, since the assumption of power have dominated headlines for various acts of vigilantism across Ghana. These have drawn several condemnations from all quarters, with the president repeatedly calling for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, a directive which has not been heeded to.

However, speaking to Diamond news in an exclusive interview, Rev Kassim, who is the Executive director of the rural Media network, advised journalists to work on advocacy features and write-ups that educate the youth on the dangers and ramifications of the practice.

The Executive director of RUMNET, in giving an overview and genesis of the practice in the country, chastised self seeking politicians, for fueling it rise in Ghana.

He advised the youth never to allow themselves be used in perpetuating evil.
