BASTIE SAMIR’s MANGERS SHOULD AIM FOR A WORLD TITLE- ATA AYIDE PAPPOE

A member of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and a boxing judge, Ata Ayide Pappoe says Ghana can depend on Bastir Samir for a world title if he is given proper management.

The astute boxing fellow thinks that Bastie has what it takes to get Ghana a world title that has eluded the sport in Ghana for a long time now.

Speaking in the wake of Bastie Samir’s 7th round knock-out of compatriot Braimah Kamoko, Ata Ayide Pappoe said it will be good if Bastie stays within his Lightweight Division and aim for a world title.

Bastie Samir, popularly known as ‘Doobia’ has been the subject of commendation and discussions ever since he emerged tops against the loud-talking experienced and hitherto undefeated Braimah Kamoko also known as ‘Bukom Banku’by knocking him out in the seventh round of a cruiserweight contest at the Bukom Boxing Arena on October, 21st 2017.

In the said bout, Bastie had to move ahead of his Lightweight division to fight in Banku’s Cruiserweight division, something Ata Ayide Pappoe thinks he should not be carried away with but rather return to his division and take a shot at a world title bout in the near future.

Batie ‘Doobia’ Samir hails from Bimbilla in the Northern Region of Ghana and alongside his brother, Issah Samir are young and talented boxers.

Bastie Samir is a former Olympian as he won a silver medal for Ghana at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

After defeating Braimah Kamoko, Bastie indicated his interest in getting a fight abroad before the end of the year.
