Appointment of Dr Baffour as DG of GHS withdrawn in just two weeks.

Just two weeks after his appointment, Dr Baffour Awuah has had his deal withdrawn as the new Director-General of the Ghana Health Service.

Government gave no reasons for the revocation of the appointment of Dr Baffour, who took over from Dr Anthony Nsiah Asare as DG of the Ghana Health Service..

Dr Awuah was appointed by the President and in a letter dated November 5, 2019, and signed by Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Bedietuo Asante, Dr Awuah was expected to head the GHS in an acting capacity “…pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

The Consultant Radiation Oncologist, who has been working at the KATH since June 2010 and became KATH’s Director of Medical services.
