The leadership of Dagbon Malima Zungo DAMAZ, has expressed disappoint over the failure of government officials and members of parliament from Dagbon to honor an invitation extended to them by the Dagbon Traditional Council to participate in its extraordinary meeting held in Tamale.
According to the leaders of DAMAZ, the attitude of the MPs and government officials towards the Dagbon traditional authorities is unfortunate and should be condemned.
The Dagbon Traditional Council held an extraordinary meeting to finalize their decision to reject a proposition from the Mamprugu traditional Council to cede the Chereponi district to the proposed North East Region.
The Dagbon Malima Zungo in a press statement copy to Diamond stated that invitees including Northern Regional minister, MMDCEs in the Dagbon jurisdiction, and legislators from the Dagbon area, failed to honor the occasion except the Member of Parliament of Chereponi and Regional Minister who wrote to inform the house that; they could not be present at the meeting.
DAMAZ condemned the behavior of political leaders of Dagbon, stating further in the press release that they were only interested in divisional issues and not issues that will unite Dagbon.
The Dagbon Malima Zungo wants the political leaders of Dagbon to render unqualified apology to the traditional leaders of Dagbon.
Meanwhile, the statement appealed to the Dagbon Traditional Council to allow cool heads to prevail in their deliberations to maintain peaceful coexistence between the two traditional areas.
