An ALL-OUT-WAR to clump down on criminals, declared by the REGSEC in the Northern Region

The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has launched a security master-plan called the “All-Out War” to help deal with the increasing rate of crime in the region.

The “All-Out War” declaration entails full deployment of security agencies throughout the region to embark on various operations on the roads and in various communities by flushing out criminal elements.

Northern Regional Minister who chairs the REGSEC, Salifu Sa-eed at a press briefing in Tamale said the council will also employ some modern methods and strategies in crime fighting in other to outplay the criminals in the region.

He said the security agencies will be resolute in carrying out their mandate and therefore called for the cooperation and support of inhabitants in the region to be able to achieve this.

The REGSEC has also begun a reward scheme for informants who would provide accurate and reliable information that will lead to the apprehension of criminals in their neighborhoods.

Salifu Sa-eed therefore assured the public that, REGSEC will not relent in providing adequate protection and security to all persons living in the region and beyond.

General Officer, commanding the Northern command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier Gen. Moses Mohammed Aryee also assured of his readiness to release his men to complement the operations of the Police service.

Criminal activities in the Northern Region have soared thereby creating fear and panic among inhabitants of the region.

Within the last two month, four vehicles have been snatched at gun point within Tamale and two of which have been retrieved. A Policewoman on duty at a checkpoint was also shot and killed by gunmen. Six of the suspects are standing trial.

The Police are also yet to apprehend the armed men that shot and robbed a mobile money vendor at Vittin.

A few days ago, communal violence broke out between a Fulani settlement and another ethnic group in Bugurugu village in the Karaga district leading to the destruction of over 50 houses and other properties in the area. The Northern regional Police command is still on a manhunt for the perpetrators.
