All is set for Hajj pilgrims take off from Tamale, starting Wednesday, says National Hajj Board officials

The National Hajj Board led by its chairman, Sheikh I. C. Quaye, and some government officials including the Interior Minister Ambrose Derry has inspected facilities at the hajj village in Tamale on Tuesday.

The inspection formed part of efforts put in place by the board to ensuring an incident free hajj.

Chairman of the National Hajj Board after inspecting the process expressed his satisfaction and commended the local organizers for a good work done.

The Deputy Public Relations officer of the Hajj Board, Alhaji Haruna Illiasu, speaking on behalf of the board stated that almost all hajj arrangement have been completed, saying 492 prospective pilgrims from the North are expected to be airlifted to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, 24th July 2019.

He indicated that the checking in process will begin at exactly 12am on Wednesday.

 Alhaji Illiasu however, cautioned the public who have no business at the village to stay away. He also urged persons who will be escorting their relatives to the hajj village to cooperate with the security by obeying the rules and regulations at the villages.

Six flights have been scheduled to airlift about 2,802 pilgrims directly from the Tamale International Airport to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A total of 6100 prospective pilgrims from Ghana are expected to take part in this year’s Hajj.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam which require all able-bodied Muslims to perform Hajj once in their lifetime.

Hajj offers an opportunity to the faithful to wipe past sins and start afresh. Over 3 million Muslims across the world are expected to perform this year’s event.
