ALHAJI FAROUK ALIU MAHAMA TO SPEND GH₵150,000 TO REHABILITATE YENDI HOSPITAL MORTUARY IN TWO MONTHS

An aspiring parliamentary candidate for New Patriotic Party (NPP), of the Yendi constituency, Alhaji Faruk Aliu Mahama, has inspected the Yendi government hospital mortuary to ascertain the current condition of the facility.

The inspection formed part of his intention to refurbish and provide modern refrigerators for the facility after 30 years without renovation.

It would be recalled that, a youth group Ghaza Empire in the Yendi Municipality through their spokesperson, Amingos made an appeal to benevolent persons, NGOs, and sons and daughters of the area, to quickly come to the aid of the Yendi Government Hospital Mortuary which has not seen any rehabilitation for 30 years.

The group in their call indicated that the unbearable foul smell emanating from the Morgue is a worry to them. This, they said, is as a result of the nonfunctional fridge at the facility.

Addressing the media after inspecting the facility, Alhaji Farouk indicated his readiness to fully fund the cost of renovation and provision of equipment for the morgue.

“I am doing this as son and citizen of Yendi and Dagbon at large, and not for political expediency. The youth group through their leader Amingos, called on us to come to the aid of Yendi Hospital morgue. And as a responsible citizen of this area, I thought it wise to quickly come in and support”, he said.

“The Member of Parliament of this area and the Municipal Chief Executive of Yendi Municipality have done their part, but we are always responsibly people. We are calling on all responsible people from Yendi to also come in and take part some portion of the hospital us we adopted the Morgue to replace it and put it to a befitting standard”, he stated.

The son of former vice president Alhaji Aliu Mahama , said he is willing to spending Ghc 150,000 to renovate and furnish the Yendi Hospital Morgue by the end of January 2020.

“We want to spend two months to fix this facility. This is not Alhaji Farouk but it is for the people of Dagbon and so everybody must take part on this project, we are ready develop and I thank GAZA youth group for putting us on thons to develop this area”, he said

On his part the Yendi Municipal Health Service administrator, Nayim Kwaku Musah thanked Alhaji Farouk for his intervention, saying “this will go a long way to improved health care delivering in the area. We have been battling with this nonfunctional morgue for some years now, and I think the gesture by Alhaji Farouk is timely intervention”, he noted.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of GAZA Youth Group, Amingo commended the NPP aspiring parliamentary candidate for his quick response to work on the Yendi Hospital Morgue.
