Airlifting of Hajj pilgrims from the Northern Ghana to commence on July 24

Flight schedules for this year’s hajj have been released with first badge of 467 pilgrims from the northern Ghana, expected to be airlifted from Tamale international airport to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on July 24.

The last flight is expected to be on August 4, 2019. According to the Deputy public relation officer of the Ghana Hajj Board, Alhaji Illiasu Haruna, a Commercial Saudi airline with capacity of 467 passengers has been arranged to convey pilgrims to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for this year hajj.

He said Six flights have been scheduled to airlift about 2,802 pilgrims directly from the Tamale international Airport, to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Alhaji Illiasu mentioned that a total of 6100 prospective pilgrims across the country are expected to perform this year’s hajj.

Speaking to Diamond News, the deputy public relations officer, indicated that, the national hajj board had put in place the necessary arrangements to ensure an incident free hajj, saying about 95 percent of this hajj arrangement has been completed 

Alhaji Illiasu however advised pilgrims to desist from carrying prohibited substances, as authorities of Saudi kingdom have already issued warnings to prosecute persons found with such substances in their land. He also advised pilgrims to observed the laws of the Saudi kingdom while going through the hajj processes.

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and all able-bodied Muslims are required to perform it once in their lifetime. Hajj offers an opportunity to the faithful to wipe clean past sins and start fresh. Over 3 million Muslims across the world are expected perform this year’s event.
