ABUDU YOUTH GROUP IN YENDI WANT POLICE TO ARREST SAGNARIGU AND NYANKPALA CHIEFS

The concerned Youth group of Abudu Royal family has Called for the arrest of the Chief of Sagnarigu, Chief Natia and Nyankpala Chief for their roles in the Thursday and Friday shootings in Yendi during the performance of the final funeral rites of the late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II, otherwise be force to produce those responsible for the attacks in Yendi.

According to the group, Yendi was very peaceful until the arrival of these chiefs adding that, the Andani family failed to admit the realities of the Dagbon customs and has resorted to misinforming the general public and also chaining out falsehood, in their desire to hold Dagbon to ransom.

“They have succeeded in using the media to propagate deliberate untruths about last Thursday and Friday shooting incident and the media have equally failed to cross check the true facts and reported lies, leaving many Ghanaians in darkness”.

The group also accuse the Regional Public Relations officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Mohammed Yussif Tanko, of misinformation and ignorance to what caused the whole incident, “we believe that the Yendi Municipal Divisional BNI Commander, by name Victor has wired bias reports to the regional Police PRO, this Victor of the BNI have been noted to have worked with the Kampakuyana against the Abudu royal family for some time now”.

The Youth however called on the president to immediately transfer the said Victor, who they describe as ‘bias and a trouble causer’ from Yendi. Stating that what happened in Yendi on Thursday and Friday was purely between members of the Andani family, sympathizers of the chief of Savelugu, Head of the Andani family and those of the kampakuyana.

And this, they said was led by the Kugana who got to the palace to watch the funeral activities (Head Shaving) and demanded to have the keys to the palaces to the royal assistant (Nabuglisi), which later sparked the whole incident.

“we will want to thank the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, the REGSEC and the Government for their commitment to Dagbong peace and reconciliation. We are however extraordinarily expectant that the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, the REGSEC and the government would be fair and just to the two feuding factions to avoid future factional discord, hostilities and loss of lives and properties”.

“As Youth, we have cooperated with the security apparatus of the region, we have also restrained our people despite the trying times and provocation that we’ve had. On Thursday when one of us was shot in cold blood (may his soul rest in perfect peace), we had to restrain our people not to retaliate and many went home with bitterness. As youth, we want to be involved in the process, just to maintain peace and unity so that Dagbon moves on”.

The Abudu Youth also called on the public not to take “the likes of Mahama Shaibu, Basharu Daballe and some NDC commentators like A. B. A. Fusheini serious for their opportunistic attempt to spew garbage and untruths against the people of Yendi and particularly the Abudu Youth. Their attempt to mislead the public is not only dangerous but capable of plundering the whole of Dagbong into prolonged factional clashes”.
