31 year old apprentice welder defiles two girls aged 2 year. He is now in the custody of the police in Tamale.

A 31 years old apprentice welder, known only as YAHAYA in the Nakpanzoo community near Tamale has been arrested for allegedly defiling two minors aged 2 years and 2 and half years.

The victims and the accused live in the same Nakpanzoo community. According to the father of one of the victim (name withheld), the accused took the little girls to a nearby bathroom and defiled them.

He narrated that the little girls where with mothers at home, but when out to play and after several hours without coming back, one of the mothers decided to look for them, where she saw the accused and her little girls coming out from the bathroom. 

He claimed that the accused then give one Ghana cedis each to the victims, and hurriedly left the scene when he saw the mother of the girls approaching. It was detected that one of the girls could not walk properly and the women later saw blood patches in the private parts of the girls.

The issue was reported to the police and the accused was subsequently arrested where he confessed to the cat before being put into police custody. Father of one of the defiled girls told Diamond News that a police medical form was issued to them to go to hospital. He however is unhappy that the medical team at the Tamale central hospital was demanding five hundred Ghana from them before they would conduct the test on the defiled girls.

Still on sexual assault, a man, who allegedly had sex with an intoxicated 80 year old woman at Patrensah in the Asante-Akim Central Municipality, has been remanded into prison custody by the Konongo Magistrate Court. Kwaku Manu, 54, a palm wine seller, is said to have taken advantage of the old woman whom he had escorted home after she had gotten herself drunk with some of the local alcoholic drink he was selling.

His plea was not taken and would be back in the Court on February 19. Prosecuting, Police Detective Inspector Princeton Peasah Darkwa, told the Court presided over by Ms. Joyce Bamfo that the incident happened on February 6.

The suspect took the complainant to her house and forcibly had sex with the old woman in her room. The prosecution said in the process, the helpless old woman started screaming and asked the accused to stop but he would not. The Prosecution said minutes later, one of the complainant’s daughters who is a witness in the case, came home, saw the palmwine tapper on top of her 80 year old mum. She locked the door and raised an alarm which led other witnessed and the police to the scene.  

A senior blood donor at the Tamale Teaching Hospital blood bank, David Kordegu has admonished the public to develop the habit of voluntarily donating blood to ensure healthy lives as well as saving lives.
