• COALITION OF YOUTH PARLIAMENT IN NORTHERN REGION REQUEST FOR SAFER SPACE AT THE DECISION MAKING TABLE

The coalition of youth parliaments in the Northern Region have said the creation of safe space to enhance active youth participation in decision making process is paramount for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in Ghana.

According to them, the youth must lead the course to promoting a peaceful society, creating avenues to ensure justice for all and inclusive institutions at all levels whilst holding leaders accountable to ensure sustainable development.

In a communiqué issued at the 9th annual youth forum in Tamale, the group demanded that, vocational and technical training and youth entrepreneurship be given the needed attention to economically empower the youth.

A member of the Yendi youth parliament who read the communiqué said the youth when economically, socially and politically empowered will have a strong voice to speak against corruption and other ills of society.

The Northern youth parliament also urged the youth to develop interest in understanding the procurement Act of Ghana, the whistle blowers Act, the right to information bill and other anti-corruption acts to enable them identify and expose corruption at all levels.

Director at the Youth Empowerment for Life Jawol Vera Magan called on government to adequately resource all National Youth Authority offices across the country to effectively serve the course of the youth.
