• Railway Minister assures of rail lines and trains that would connect Tamale to Kumasi and Paga

The Minister for Railway, Joe Ghartey says Cabinet has approved for a joint committee between Ghana and Burkina Faso to develop the Accra to Ouagadougou railway line.

He further stated that the line will connect the Volta, Bimbilla, Yendi, Tamale and continue to Paga.

Mr. Ghartey who is also MP for Esikado said this when he paid a Courtesy Call on the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, as part of the tour ahead of the commencement of the Central Spine railway project in the Region.

The Railway minister explained that, under the Railway Development Plan, the Kumasi through Tamale to Paga line is under the Central Spine and a main station based in Tamale.

He again indicated that, government has already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese Company to develop the Kumasi-Tamale Section of the line.

Salifu Sa-eed indicated that, the project will result in development through job creation which will alleviate poverty in the area.

The team also visited the Sagnar-Naa and Gukpe-Naa to inform them about this development.
